In the least shocking news of the week Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has declared for the NFL draft.

Lawrence helped guide Clemson to the 2018 national championship, 2019 national runner-up, and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2020.

Lawrence, the runaway favorite to be the first overall pick in April’s NFL draft is the most highly-touted quarterback prospect there has been since Andrew Luck in 2012, and perhaps since even Peyton Manning in 1998.

Lawrence made the announcement official on social media Wednesday morning, one day after finishing second to Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith in Heisman Trophy voting.

Notre Dame fans don’t need a refresher on just how good Lawrence was as a college player as he was the best player on the field in both of his two career games against the Irish, both blowout victories in Clemson’s favor.

Lawrence concludes his college career with just over 10,000 career passing yards, 90 passing touchdowns, and just 17 interceptions.  He also ran for 943 yards and 17 additional touchdowns.

It would appear Lawrence’s next stop will be Jacksonville as the Jaguars hold the first pick in the 2021 NFL draft.
