TreVonte’ Citizen picks up offer from Mario Cristobal, Miami

LSU has more competition for Lake Charles RB TreVonte’ Citizen.

The LSU Tigers are still aiming to add a running back in the 2022 recruiting class as they march towards the second national signing period. TreVonte’ Citizen originally committed to LSU but backed off of his commitment after Ed Orgeron was relieved of his duties as the Tigers head coach.

It appears that now Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes are looking at the former Tigers pledge. Much like the Tigers, the Canes are looking for their first commitment from a running back. They have nine recruits signed to their 2022 class and Citizen could be No. 10.

LSU is hoping that Frank Wilson can help close the deal on the Lake Charles running back. Wilson spent the last two seasons in Lake Charles as the head coach at McNeese. He returned to the Tigers as part of Brian Kelly’s inaugural staff.

If Cristobal is able to sway Citizen to South Beach, LSU has one other option in Trevor Etienne. The brother of the Jaguars running back Travis Etienne is looking at LSU as well as Clemson and Florida. Teams will have another six weeks to lock down commitments ahead of the final signing period on Feb. 2.
