Boston Celtics two way guard Tremont Waters continues to show out on his assignment to the Maine Red Claws, logging his third double-double with Boston’s G League affiliate this season with 18 points and 11 assists.
It came in a 128-123 loss to the Delaware Bluecoats — the affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers’ — despite a franchise-record 11 treys from fellow Claws guard Bryce Brown, who shot a sizzling 15-of-17 overall from the floor with a monster 43-point outing.
The loss came despite an excellent night from Celtics center Vincent Poirier as well, who added 18 points and 4 boards while fan favorite big man Tacko Fall continues to recuperate from a sprained knee.

Claws center Yante Maten also chipped in 18 points for good measure, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Bluecoats, led by guard Xavier Munford’s 44-point, 7 board performance, buttressed by guard Marial Shayok’s 26 points and 6 assists.
The Red Claws now stand at 7-4 on their season, losing 2 of their last three despite amazing play from Connecticut native Waters, who has averaged 16 points, 10.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game over that stretch.
While enough to garner G League Player of the Month accolades, it’s clear the team misses Senegalese big man Fall considerably.
The 7-foot-5 center should be back soon, however, if the initial assessment of 1-2 weeks holds true, with a little over a week having passed since the bone bruise was sustained on Nov. 27.
