Football fans didn’t buy it when Georgia coach Kirby Smart said it last month, and they didn’t buy it Sunday night when Travis Kelce said it after the Chiefs won Super Bowl 57.
Kansas City rallied to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona in an incredible game that became an instant Super Bowl classic.
And afterward, Kelce delivered yet another WWE-style rant. But the Chiefs tight end repeatedly claimed that no one believed in Kansas City and no one picked the team to win the Super Bowl.
Sure, plenty of people, like FOX’s broadcast crew, picked the favorite Eagles to win it all, but so many others — including some of us here at For The Win – went with the Chiefs. A Patrick Mahomes-led offense is awfully hard to doubt, especially after winning the 2019-20 Super Bowl and the AFC West title the last seven consecutive years.

Kelce’s comments were awfully similar to what Smart said in January after the Bulldogs won their second consecutive championship, claiming everyone also doubted them. Again, ridiculous when Georgia was a title favorite throughout the season and its 25-year-old quarterback was still in red and black.
Kirby Smart says “everybody doubted (Georgia) to start the year.”

Of course, football fans didn’t miss a beat.
