Travis Hunter makes list of most intriguing non-QBs entering 2023

Travis Hunter is entering his first season at Colorado as one of the most intriguing players in all of college football

With college football kicking off beginning in Week 0, the time is officially here. The Colorado Buffaloes don’t play until September, like most programs, and their opener against TCU will be the first game of the Deion Sanders era.

Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated compiled a list of his top 25 most intriguing non-quarterbacks in college football. Can you guess which Buff made the list? Yes, it’s former No. 1 overall prospect and two-way player Travis Huner, who is one of many who followed Coach Prime from Jackson State.

Hunter landed at No. 3 on this list behind Georgia TE Brock Bowers at No. 1 and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 2. Here’s what Forde wrote about Hunter:

Hunter is definitely the Louis in Coach Prime’s Boulder luggage, and he’s not just trying to make the leap from FCS to high-major football; he’s doing it at two positions. The five-star high school prospect who shockingly went to Jackson State was a two-way player for one of the all-time two-way guys, Deion Sanders. Hunter started eight games defensively and five on offense at Jackson State, producing 18 catches for 188 yards and four touchdowns; 20 tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and 10 passes broken up. How much he plays on each side of the ball will be one of the primary curiosity factors of the early season.

Midway through fall camp, Hunter has been dazzling on both sides of the ball, and he should be a favorite target for Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders, who also threw passes to him at Jackson State. In April, the two showed off their chemistry together at the spring game.

Hunter has everybody buzzing. After all, he’s a preseason first-team All-Pac-12 pick.
