Travis Hunter is no longer the only member of Colorado football’s gray practice jersey club. On Thursday, CU trainer Lauren Askevold posted an Instagram video of spring game standout Isaiah Hardge sporting a gray jersey, signaling that the redshirt freshman is taking fall camp reps on offense and defense.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pound athlete has been working as a wide receiver, running back and cornerback, and he now has the jersey to match his capabilities.
Hardge came to the Buffs as a three-star wide receiver prospect during the 2023 recruiting cycle out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During his true freshman season, Hardge was listed as a defensive back and played in three games, primarily on special teams.
Because of roster attrition and injuries, Hardge was forced into duty as a running back during CU’s spring game in April, earning the starting nod and rushing for 65 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown run. That audition on offense was perhaps enough for Hardge to convince coaches that he can play both ways.
