The 2024 Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list dropped Tuesday and Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter was one of 75 defensive standouts who made the cut.
Given annually since 1993 to the top defensive player in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, former Bronko Nagurski Trophy recipients include Aaron Donald (Pittsburgh Panthers), Manti Te’o (Notre Dame Fighting Irish), Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska Cornhuskers), Champ Bailey (Georgia Bulldogs) and new Colorado graduate assistant Warren Sapp (Miami Hurricanes). No Colorado player has ever received the award.
After transferring to Colorado from Jackson State, Hunter recorded 30 total tackles, three interceptions, eight passes defended and two TFLs in his first season with the Buffs.
Other Buffs featured on preseason award watch lists include quarterback Shedeur Sanders (Maxwell Award) and Arizona State transfer defensive lineman BJ Green II (Outland Trophy).
