Just as NFL players take issue with their Madden ratings seemingly every year, NBA players always think they’re underrated on NBA 2K.
But Trae Young really might have reason to be upset.
Young led the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals before being sidelined and limited by an ankle injury in Game 3. But throughout that playoff run, Young broke out as a legitimate NBA star. So with that playoff performance fresh on everyone’s minds, it would have made sense to see Young get a huge boost in the ratings on NBA 2K22.
That wasn’t the case.
The game’s official Twitter account spent much of Wednesday sharing ratings for the upcoming edition of 2K. Young went from an 87 rating in 2K21 to an 89 rating in 2K22.

And sure, only a handful of players are at 90 overall or better, but the 89 rating did feel like a number designed to get Young’s attention. And it did. He tweeted a reaction to the 89 overall shortly after the news hit Twitter.

The official Hawks Twitter account also took notice.

Of course, these ratings will fluctuate throughout the season, so Young will have a chance to give it a boost. But he probably deserved to start the year at 90. That would have been fair.
