Trade suggests Sixers move Al Horford to Cavaliers for Kevin Love

A new trade suggests the Philadelphia 76ers send Al Horford to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kevin Love.

It’s no secret that the Al Horford fit has not exactly been all that great for the Philadelphia 76ers. While he has been terrific for them on the defensive end, it has been a disaster on the offensive end as his game has not meshed with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons on that end of the floor.

His name has always come in potential trade suggestions involving the Sixers and this one is nothing new. Bleacher Report has come up with a new trade suggestion that has the Sixers and the Cleveland Cavaliers exchanging big men.

The deal was Philadelphia sending Horford, Zhaire Smith, and a 2020 second-round pick to Cleveland for Kevin Love. B/R on the deal:

Both the Cavaliers and 76ers have made major frontcourt investments they’d like to have back. Could they help correct the other’s mistake? It’s not ideal for either side, but each probably prefers its hypothetical addition over its current state.

The Sixers are desperate for outside shooting. Kevin Love has 1,223 career three-pointers and a 37.0 percent perimeter connection rate. That’s most of the appeal from Philly’s perspective, although his outlet passing could grow even more potent with an explosive finisher like Ben Simmons on the receiving end of those touchdown throws.

Imagine a guy like Love, who is shooting 37.4% from deep for a bad Cavaliers team, next to Embiid and Simmons. He is still a terrific rebounder–9.8 rebounds per game–and he is averaging 17.6 points per game as well. Philadelphia could use a guy like Love to have him as their third guy. He would be a much smoother fit rather than Horford. [lawrence-related id=33162,33155,33148]
