Touchdown Wire projects Tennessee Titans’ win-loss record for 2020

Does Touchdown Wire think the Titans can get over the 9-7 hump?

Despite the Tennessee Titans making a run all the way to the AFC Championship Game last season, Touchdown Wire sees them finishing with the same old 9-7 record fans have become accustomed to over the years.

Here’s what Barry Werner of Touchdown Wire had to say about his prediction for the Titans’ 2020 record.

The Titans bet on Ryan Tannehill. They won’t lose more than they win, but they won’t win enough to duplicate the 2019 postseason success.

Tennessee has finished with a 9-7 record in each of the past four seasons, so this projection doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

But the 2019 campaign was a tale of two seasons and showed that this particular team, which has been kept mostly intact, is capable of better.

Once Ryan Tannehill took over in Week 7 last season, the Titans were firing on all cylinders and were a much better team, leading to a 7-3 finish to the regular season and a playoff berth.

There’s certainly reason to believe that the Titans can get over the 9-7 hump with a full season of Tannehill under center. In fact, they likely would have done so in 2019 if Tannehill had started from the beginning.

However, until the Titans are able to duplicate their second-half success from last year, there will be skepticism that this team is as good as their improbable 2019 finish would seem to indicate.
