Touchdown Wire mock draft sends Deshaun Watson to the Jets, Zach Wilson to the Texans

In the latest Touchdown Wire mock draft, the Houston Texans trade QB Deshaun Watson to the New York Jets and draft BYU’s Zach Wilson No. 2 overall.

There are two things people can always count on in springtime: pollen and mock drafts.

The latest mock draft to pollenate the internets is from Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar. After the flurry of free agency moves, Farrar presents his latest mock draft that involves the Houston Texans trading quarterback Deshaun Watson to the New York Jets for the AFC East club’s No. 2 and No. 23 overall picks in Round 1, their No. 34 overall pick in Round 2, and New York’s first-round choice in 2022.

Rebuild complete.

With the Texans’ No. 2 overall pick, they take Zach Wilson. The BYU quarterback immediately becomes the successor to Watson, who now seeks to turn around an ailing Jets franchise under rookie coach Robert Saleh.

Later in Round 1, the Texans address cornerback with the 23rd overall pick, taking Asante Samuel from Florida State.

New general manager Nick Caserio has been aggressive in free agency hitting “singles and doubles” to provide depth throughout the roster. If the Texans can find a way to add quality talent in the draft, even if it means trading Watson, it is a possibility they should at least consider.
