Top-50 OT checks in from spring visit to the Swamp

It was a busy weekend in the Swamp as spring practices began and blue-chip recruits came into town.

Florida is hosting plenty of recruits over the first weekend of spring camp, and class of 2025 four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Mason Short[/autotag] is one of the many who checked in from the Swamp on Saturday.

Short received an offer from the Gators when he visited Gainesville for Florida’s matchup against South Carolina during the regular season. Although he’s just a sophomore in high school, Florida is pushing hard for Short. He’s one of the premier offensive linemen in his class and is a Peach State native, which means Georgia’s efforts will work even better on him.

If the Gators are going to get him to Florida, Napier and Co. will have to give it everything they’ve got. Florida State and Tennessee are two other schools to watch closely in this race as they have March visits booked with Short. Alabama, Clemson and Georgia are scheduling meetings with him for the spring as well, according to Swamp247.

It’s still very early in the process for Short. He has just under two years to make an official decision, and there won’t be any shortage of offers for the blue-chip recruit. Being 6-foot-7-inches tall and 280 pounds at just 16 years old means there’s room to grow for Short, and Napier like his offensive linemen big.

Short is ranked No. 28 overall on the 247Sports composite and No. 3 among offensive tackles in the class of 2025. He lands at the same spot nationally on the On3 industry ranking and is No. 2 among players at his position on those rankings.
