Top-100 defensive back rescheduling Florida official visit

One of Florida’s 2024 recruiting targets that couldn’t make it to town this weekend is figuring out a new date in June to visit the Gators.

The Florida Gators will be hosting massive recruiting weekends several times throughout the month of June, so it wasn’t too hard to reschedule top-100 defensive back Jamari Howard’s official visit when he found out he had to miss his trip to the Swamp this weekend.

Howard is now set to visit Gainesville the weekend of June 16, according to Swamp247. It will be his fourth stop by campus this year and the rescheduling could help UF out in the end. Howard will be at Michigan State on June 9 for an official visit, which means the Florida trip will now be after that one instead of before.

The Spartans earned a commitment from Howard last year, but he backed off that pledge a month ago. Florida State and Miami are the other two programs that have emerged as serious contenders for him. Obviously, staying close to home is a priority for the former Big Ten commit.

At publishing time, FSU leads the On3 recruiting prediction machine with 30.2% odds to land him. Florida is in fourth place with 9.7% odds, making this official visit is an important one.

Howard is a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports, On3 and ESPN. Rivals.com has him listed as a three-star recruit. The On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four services, still puts Howard in the top 100, though.

He is ranked No. 78 nationally, No. 11 among cornerbacks and No. 13 among players from the Sunshine State in the class of 2024.
