Top UNC football recruiting target taking visit to Ohio State

A top UNC football recruiting target is set to visit Ohio State on Saturday for an unofficial visit.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program currently has a top 25 recruiting class for the 2023 cycle as we hit the Fall season. The Tar Heels have a total of 19 commitments but still have offers out to top recruits in the class.

And arguably the top target left for UNC is four-star in-state defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs.

The Concord, North Carolina product is a big-time recruit that is ranked No. 137 nationally and has racked up 26 offers.  He was on UNC’s campus over the Summer and also made visits to Auburn and Tennessee, with more to Georgia and Alabama still scheduled.

But it appears as if a new contender is in the picture, making for some tough competition.

Ohio State recently offered Hobbs this week and now the recruit is taking an unofficial visit to Columbus this weekend:

The Buckeyes are a premier program and will add to an impressive list of offers that Hobbs has already received.

As it stands now, UNC has the lead in the crystal ball predictor on 247Sports, holding the only prediction from Briah Dohn with a confidence of seven. But when a team like the Buckeyes enter the race, it means things could be changing.
