Come for the crappy play between two middling teams playing on Monday Night Football, stay for the undefeated ESPN graphics that never fail to impress.
This week, during a boring game between the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN outdid themselves again with the graphics likening the terrible NFC East to the Netflix hit show Stranger Things. Not only did the graphics show how bad all of the division teams are, with the likelihood that the winner and subsequent playoff contender will finish with a losing record, but it gave some hope for whoever that eventual team may be, bringing up some tales of past below-.500 teams who have made the playoffs before.

Two teams in NFL history have won their division with a losing record — the 2010 Seattle Seahawks and the 2014 Carolina Panthers (ironically coached by Ron Rivera.) In both instances, the teams won a playoff game that year, advancing to the second round.
Does that mean that the winner of the NFC East will win a playoff game this season too? Well, we can’t say for sure, but Stranger Things have happened before.
I’m so sorry…
