Top class of 2022 target Braelon Allen set to announce commitment

One of Wisconsin’s top targets in the class of 2022, four-star safety Braelon Allen, will announce his commitment on Jan. 20.

Wisconsin just landed one four-star safety from inside the state in the class of 2021 with Hunter Wohler of Muskego, and it may be poised to do so again in 2022.

It’s still extremely early in the 2022 recruiting cycle, but Fond du Lac star Braelon Allen is already set to announce where he wants to play at the next level. The nation’s No. 5 safety and No. 76 overall player per 247Sports only has two offers at the moment – from the Badgers and Iowa – and he will choose between the two Big Ten West rivals on Jan. 20.

Iowa was the first to offer Allen way back in June, with Wisconsin following suit on Nov. 23 after hosting him for a campus visit. While those are the only schools to have officially thrown their hats in the ring here, Notre Dame has also been heavily involved, and it’s safe to say many other top programs would have come calling eventually, and likely still will even after he commits given how early it is in the process.

It does appear as though Badger fans could be getting some good news from Allen next month, as his 247Sports Crystal Ball currently reads 100 percent Wisconsin. Should he settle on the Badgers, he would be their first commitment in the 2022 class.

Allen is one of three Top 100 in-state players in the class of 2022 that Wisconsin covets, along with offensive tackle Joe Brunner (Whitefish Bay) and offensive guard Carson Hinzman (Hammond). As things stand today, the Badgers are in great shape to land all three.
