Top 2025 safety flips commitment from Notre Dame to Big Ten program

The talented safety prospect flips to the Big Ten.

One of the more notable flips of the 2025 recruiting cycle so far happened Monday afternoon, as safety Ivan Taylor officially flipped his commitment from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the Michigan Wolverines.

Taylor, who is the son of former two-time Super Bowl champion Ike Taylor, had previously been committed to Notre Dame since December of 2023.

The now Michigan commit is one of the top safeties in the 2025 class, as he ranks as the No. 6 overall player at the position according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Taylor is also considered as the No. 54 player in the nation, as well as the No. 9 prospect in the state of Florida where he attends West Orange High School.

Michigan’s newest commitment is now No. 15 this cycle for the defending national champions, with Taylor also sitting as the second highest-ranked of the group.

The commitment of Taylor also continues what has so far been a strong cycle for Michigan in Florida, as the four-star is the fourth commit from the state in this class. Taylor joins quarterback Carter Smith, as well as IMG Academy products Donovan Johnson and Kaden Strayhorn.
