The recruiting cycle in college athletics is unique. In no other sport can a team add a significant piece to its future roster, as the Colorado Buffaloes did with Julian “JuJu” Lewis earlier this week, and then play a massive game only two days later.
Kansas has been hot lately, winning three of its last four games, including two in a row over ranked opponents. CU will mark Kansas’ third straight ranked opponent, but I believe the Jayhawks’ winning streak will end on Saturday.
The Buffs have proven themselves as one of the Big 12’s best teams, especially on the road. In their first conference game away from Boulder, CU faced a UCF team averaging 375 rushing yards per game and held the Knights to 177 ground yards en route to a 48-21 win. The Buffs then traveled to Arizona and shut down quarterback Noah Fifita for a 34-7 win. Finally, Colorado weathered a rough first quarter against Texas Tech, which owns the highest-scoring offense in the Big 12, and walked away with a 49-24 victory in Lubbock.
If Colorad’s road success tells us anything, Kansas won’t be able to slow the Buffs at Arrowhead Stadium.
Final score prediction: Colorado 35, Kansas 24
