Tony’s Take: Predicting the final score of Colorado at Colorado State

What’s your final score prediction for tonight?

We have arrived at another rivalry game for the Colorado Buffaloes, who will be at Canvas Stadium on Saturday evening to face the Colorado State Rams in Fort Collins for the first time since 1996. CU is riding a six-game winning streak in the Rocky Mountain Showdown, its longest since an eight-game streak from 1987-98.

The Buffs are the cold team heading into this nonconference matchup after being beaten by the more physical Nebraska Cornhuskers last weekend. The Rams rebounded nicely against the Northern Colorado Bears after being dominated by the SEC’s Texas Longhorns in Week 1. Given the chatter that has occurred, CSU feels confident it can match up with the Buffs.

I’m expecting another close Rocky Mountain Showdown in Deion Sanders and Jay Norvell’s second matchup. The Buffs benefited from four turnovers last year, and I predict they’ll get their first turnover of the season on Saturday. CU will finally get the run game going and ensure that CSU stays winless against the Buffs in Fort Collins since 1955.

My final score prediction: Colorado wins the Rocky Mountain Showdown, 34-24.
