The Vols will host Auburn at Lindsey Nelson Stadium Friday-Sunday.
Chase Dollander has served as Tennessee’s Saturday starting pitcher during the 2022 season. Dollander left the Vols’ game against Alabama on April 16 after being hit by a line drive.
Dollander did not pitch in Tennessee’s series sweep at Florida last weekend. He suffered a bruise on his right arm from the line drive against Alabama.
Following Tennessee’s win against Xavier, Vols’ head coach Tony Vitello discussed Dollander’s status for the Auburn series.
Vitello mentioned Dollander is good and doing much better than a few days ago.
“The biggest thing is, he’s got a huge smile on his face, so I think he kind of sees that it’s coming along,” Vitello said of Dollander.
The fifth-year head coach said Dollander is anxious in returning to the mound.
“We want to use him this weekend,” Vitello said. “I don’t know if that’s possible, but he’s definitely doing a lot more as of the last couple days.”
