No. 5 Tennessee (16-1) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 7-1 victory over Eastern Kentucky Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Senior third basemen Trey Lipscomb led the Vols’ attack, hitting two home runs against the Colonels (11-7).

Lipscomb gave Tennessee a 2-0 lead in the first inning with his first home run.

His grand slam in the second inning extended the Vols’ advantage to 6-0. Lipscomb went 2-for-5 in the contest.

Eastern Kentucky’s Conner Davis homered in the fourth inning. Davis recorded the only hit of the game for Eastern Kentucky.

Tennessee starting pitcher Zander Sechrist improved to 2-0 on the season.

Sechrist pitched five innings, allowing one run, one hit and one walk. He struck out seven.

Will Mabrey, Mark McLaughlin, Ben Joyce and Redmond Walsh each pitched one inning of scoreless relief for the Vols.

Vitello is the fourth head coach in program history to win 150 games while leading the Vols, joining Rod Delmonico (699), Bill Wright (408) and Dave Serrano (157).
