Tony Grimes ready to see secondary make more plays in 2022

UNC football defensive back Tony Grimes is hoping the Tar Heels’ secondary can make more spectacular plays.

While North Carolina has some questions going into this 2022 season, the Tar Heels’ secondary will be in the spotlight on the defensive side of the ball.

UNC returns a few key players and among them is defensive back [autotag]Tony Grimes[/autotag] who is going into year three after enrolling early as a five-star recruit a few years back. Grimes is ready to hold down his side of the field and is hoping for a bounce-back season here in 2022, however, he does want to see one thing change here for the upcoming campaign.

Spectacular plays.

Grimes told the media on Wednesday that he is expecting more big plays from the secondary, as Tar Heels Illustrated notes:

“I’m excited, I’m really excited,” Grimes said via THI. “We’re definitely doing a lot of stuff from last year. More big plays from the secondary this year, so I’m definitely excited to see what we’re going to put on tape.”

The Tar Heels secondary will be headlined by Grimes, Dontae Balfour, and Storm Duck. It’s a talented secondary that has promise but they do need a bounce-back campaign.

And that can get started here with a good performance in Week 0 against Florida A&M.
