Tom Brady officially said goodbye to the New England Patriots. In two posts on social media Tuesday morning, the 42-year-old free agent thanked fans and everyone involved in the Patriots organization, but said “my football journey will take place elsewhere.”
For the first time in his two-decade career, Brady can become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday, as his current contract ends Tuesday.
In Brady’s announcement on social media, he didn’t share where he plans or wants to play — just that he won’t be in New England. The number of teams looking for a new quarterback is shrinking, but Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly interested in him.
