Tom Brady sends a kind message to Jakobi Meyers about 2nd-year leap

They’re not teammates, but they still seem to be friends.

Tom Brady and Jakobi Meyers are no longer teammates, but they still seem to be friends. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback checked in on the New England Patriots receiver on Tuesday on Instagram.

Meyers put together an impressive season by the standards of a Patriots rookie receiver. On paper, it wasn’t much: 26 catches, 359 receiving yards. But it was up there with some of the best seasons by a rookie receiver under Brady and Bill Belichick.

Meyers comes in behind Aaron Dobson (519 receiving yards in 2013), Deion Branch (489 in 2002), Kenbrell Thompkins (466 in 2013) and Malcolm Mitchell (401 in 2016). It’s a mixed bag in terms of company. But it’s still an impressive year, especially for an undrafted free agent like Meyers. So it’s no surprise that Brady reached out with words of encouragement on Instagram.

It seems Brady is keeping tabs on his old teammates.
