Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots memorialized Reche Caldwell, who died on Saturday in a fatal shooting in Tampa, Florida, his hometown.
Caldwell was 41 years old. His mother confirmed his death after speaking with police, according to The Tampa Bay Times. She said the police told her that Caldwell was ambushed in a potential armed robbery.
In his six NFL seasons, Caldwell played for the Patriots, the then-San Diego Chargers and the Washington Redskins. He totaled 152 catches, 1,851 yards and 11 touchdown in 71 games and 29 starts. With the Patriots in 2006, he had career-highs of 61 catches, 760 yards and four touchdowns.
