Tom Brady had a classic response to Julian Edelman welcoming Cam Newton

Oh, Tom.

It’s been an eventful offseason for the New England Patriots, to say the least.

The team saw the departure of Tom Brady to Tampa Bay, changed uniforms, got hit with punishments for illegal videotaping and, yeah, signed former NFL MVP Cam Newton to step in at quarterback.

But that hasn’t stopped Brady from joking around with his former Patriots teammates.

On Tuesday, Julian Edelman welcomed Newton to the Patriots with an Instagram post in Cam’s super weird font type. Edelman wrote, “néwtôn, MASSACHUSÊTTS•.” So, of course, Brady had to jump into the comments and poke fun at his former Patriots wide receiver.

Brady tried to make things awkward.

Playing off Newton’s jersey number, Brady wrote, “I will always be your #1.”

Classic Tom.

Even with weapons at receiver like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin (and Gronk), Brady will probably miss Edelman’s presence in the locker room (and vice versa). That much is clear.
