Now we know why Tom Brady posted the cryptic picture on Twitter earlier in the week.

In case you missed it, the former Michigan quarterback and the multiple championship-winning NFL QB for the New England Patriots posted to Twitter an image that suggested that he could be saying goodbye to Foxboro, with either an intent to move on from football or leave the organization for another destination. After all, a report surfaced over the weekend that Brady could be a target for the Raiders, should he become available.

But with a Super Bowl forthcoming that isn’t featuring the Patriots, perhaps all the discussion over the meaning of the picture should have come with the same skepticism that is typically reserved for April Fool’s Day, as it turned out to be something of a troll job by the former Wolverine.

The early broadcast commercial during the Super Bowl featured a similar looking Brady to the picture he posted earlier in the week, in black and white and inside what looks to be Gillette Stadium. He starts saying that an announcement of this magnitude required this type of delivery.

Then, we realize the man with multiple endorsements is just endorsing something else.

But Brady did have one announcement to make outside of the service he was pimping: he’s not retiring.
