Everyone wants to talk about the competition between Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins and Mason Rudolph for a spot on the depth chart behind Ben Roethlisberger. But the truth is, Haskins is closer to Joshua Dobbs than he is Rudolph and has shown it throughout the preseason.

Unfortunately, Dobbs was unable to capitalize on one final opportunity to overtake Haskins before final cuts. Not long after coming into Pittsburgh’s preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, Dobbs was forced to leave with a turf toe injury.

This allowed Haskins to return to the game where he put together the team’s only touchdown drive.

Pittsburgh will do as they have always done, keep three quarterbacks and dress two on game day. Dobbs has been on the other end of this when he bumped Landry Jones and made the team but without a full night’s work on Friday, it’s hard to see him beating out Haskins this late in the preseason.
