The Philadelphia 76ers were on a roll. They had two very impressive wins at home over the Los Angeles Lakers and then, under some extremely tough circumstances, they knocked off the Golden State Warriors.
Then, they hit the road. The road has not been kind to the Sixers as they are now just 9-17 away from Wells Fargo Center with the loss on Saturday to the Boston Celtics. The Sixers shot just 36.9% from the floor on the night and they could not find a rhythm with Joel Embiid being the worst as he shot 1-for-11 on the night.
“We just got to get our rhythm back out there, I think everybody,” said Tobias Harris. ” We got to get our rhythm, we got to get our chemistry, and our flow back. I thought tonight, they came out and were the more physical team. They were the more dominant team. We tried to make a couple of runs that just didn’t work, but we got to get our flow back.”
The Sixers shot just 7-for-33 from deep as a team with Al Horford shooting 1-for-6, Embiid shooting 0-for-4, Harris 1-for-2, and Shake Milton shot 1-for-4. Those are shots that they were making during their two games at home so now it’s about getting that rhythm back out on the road.
“We weren’t flowing like we have been,” said Ben Simmons of Harris’ quotes. “So he’s definitely right in that aspect of things.”
Philadelphia needs to be able to find an offensive rhythm and a flow. They need to be able to post up Embiid down low and be able to space around him properly. It isn’t easy to do, but when they are able to do so, then it’s tough to stop.
“We got to get kind of just our identity of how we play,” Harris added. “Right now, it’s like we’re trying to figure a lot of things out there on the floor. You know, it’s hurting us.”
The word chemistry has been big for the Sixers all season long and it rings true right now. They have got to be able to get it together. A matchup with the Miami Heat on Monday looms and it will be the difference in either finishing the season series in a tie or finishing with a 3-1 deficit.
They will have a lot of ground to make up in the standings if they can’t get it done on Monday. [lawrence-related id=24737,24709,24708]
