PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers entered the 2022-23 season expecting to be one of the elite title contenders in the league. They had the benefit of a full offseason and training camp with James Harden and they made additions to improve the supporting cast.
After an 0-3 start to the season, alarms have been raised. The first two losses to the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks were not too bad considering how those two teams were elite, but the loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday at home raised some issues.
However, there are also 82 games in a season. There are still 79 games to go and the Sixers understand that as they continue to jell and become a team.
“It’s three games,” said Tobias Harris. “They’ve been disappointing losses, but this is a marathon. It’s hard at the moment and everybody’s going to overanalyze every little thing and we should because we expect that out of ourselves and we hold ourselves to that standard of who we believe we are as a team.”
The biggest key for the Sixers going forward is going to be continuing to believe in themselves. They need to shut out the outside noise and focus on themselves in order to get back on track.
“For us, it’s just keep our heads high,” Harris continued. “We do have to figure it out. We got to figure out ways how we can be better out there and ways that we can kinda take over a game. I even thought in the first quarter, we were able to play good enough defense, but offensively, we weren’t able to score like we wanted to so those type of moments, we gotta figure out what’s clicking for us and how we can do that at a faster pace.”

The Sixers have a ton of talent on this roster. They now just need to be able to figure it all out on the floor beginning with Monday’s matchup with the also young and rebuilding Indiana Pacers.
