On a day where everybody honors the people who have served in the military, Veteran’s Day is a special day for most people. It is a day to show appreciation for those who chose to serve ad protect the country so they deserve a lot of respect.
Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris shared his own story of his grandfather, Lt. Col. John I. Mulzac, who served as a member of The Tuskegee Airman. Mulzac fought through a lot of adversity as a black man and his choice to keep fighting for what’s right had a positive impact on Harris as a child.
Harris said:
He’s such a great guy, he’s always given us nice about life, which is about being the best that you can be. So as a kid growing up and being able to hear from him and hear those type of lessons. It definitely made me the person I am today.
I think overall the biggest lesson I learned from it was just character, especially for a guy like him going through all those type of situations and still coming out as strong as he was.

Harris has always been a guy who stands up for what he feels is right and there is no doubt that his grandfather played a part in that. He fought through a lot of discrimination after he returned home from the war, but he was still a good example for Harris. [lawrence-related id=38999,38996,38983]
