With the civil unrest going on across the country since the killing of George Floyd while in police custody in late May, the country has taken to the streets in protest of police brutality.
During this time, a lot of people have begun to learn why former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the National Anthem in protest of the very same issues. The former Super Bowl quarterback received a lot of backlash for the action, especially from President Donald Trump who claims he was disrespecting the flag and the country of the United States, but the recent events have opened eyes for Kaepernick’s true message. In fact, more NFL players have come out and said that they will take a knee and protest during the anthem.
However, Trump still does not see it that way as he said on Friday that he will not be watching the NFL due to this fact. Former Philadelphia 76ers guard JJ Redick then had a message for Trump that nobody cares if he will be watching.
No one cares if you don’t watch. https://t.co/UI5a7FMwVV

Tobias Harris then saw Redick’s reply to the President and told him to say it louder.
Say it louder my brother!!! https://t.co/q2rZethSut

It is clear that this is a huge civil movement going on in the country right now. Hopefully, this will be a huge step forward towards solving the issues in police brutality. [lawrence-related id=33288,33278,33267]
