Tobias Harris continues leadership, keeping Sixers together in quarantine

Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris has been the one who initiates Zoom calls with the team.

The Philadelphia 76ers have not been able to play a basketball game since March 11 when they took on the Detroit Pistons at home. That night, an NBA player was tested positive for coronavirus shortly after the final buzzer sounded and the league suspended operations in order to protect everybody involved.

So, in order for the team to stay in touch, they would have Zoom calls. General manager Elton Brand revealed that the team has been participating in these “happy hour” Zoom calls in order to stay together. He would not reveal who started it though, but Joel Embiid spilled the beans.

In an interview with Sixers digital reporter Lauren Rosen, Embiid said it was Tobias Harris who started the calls:

“We have a group chat. I think it was Tobias who started it, and then we just rolled with it – that’s how we keep in touch.”

Harris has been stepping up more as a leader during this season taking on a bigger role as far as keeping guys together off the floor and he has taken rookie Matisse Thybulle under his wing. To hear this from Embiid is not surprising when one considers the fact that Harris is one of the team’s vocal leaders. [lawrence-related id=32888,32858,32874]
