The United States of America right now is in an uproar over the killing of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is yet another example of police brutality in this country and the people have had enough as there have been examples of protests all over the world.
The current issue has recalled NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s initial peaceful protesting as he would kneel during the National Anthem. It was never meant as any disrespect to the flag or the anthem, but it was a way to bring about the issue of police brutality to the forefront. It was met with backlash around the league and Kaepernick has been out of the league since 2016.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was asked about players kneeling during the anthem and he made some controversial comments on Wednesday as he said he will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag or the country.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris has been outspoken on his thoughts as he handles what is going on in the world at the moment. He was not happy with Brees’ comments and rightfully so.
After everything going on, past and present. If this is still @drewbrees mindset. Please don’t send out an apology tomorrow, spare your PR team the time smh…

It is disappointing to see Brees confuse the situation and continue to make this about the flag or the anthem. This is about a serious issue this country continues to face on a daily basis and this is bringing awareness, and hopefully change, to the issue. [lawrence-related id=32553,32545,32535]
