Tobias Harris believes Sixers still had enough in order to defeat Heat

Tobias Harris believes that the Philadelphia 76ers still had enough in order to beat the Miami Heat in the playoffs.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers are turning their attention to the offseason as they look to move forward from another second-round exit in the playoffs. It was just one of those series where the flaws were pretty obvious in the loss to the Miami Heat.

One of the flaws was the lack of chemistry and continuity. The core of the Heat have been together for a few seasons so they understand what they want to run and how they are going to get things done out on the floor. The Sixers, after making the blockbuster trade to acquire James Harden, did not have that chemistry.

When a team makes a big deal like that one, there has to be a lot of time to get everybody on the same page. Harden’s arrival sent shockwaves through the team as he switched up the roles for Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris and while they both did a solid job of adjusting, it still wasn’t 100% on the same page with everybody.

Despite all of that, however, Harris believes the Sixers had enough to beat the Heat.

“Those things always help, obviously,” he said. “I think it’s one of those things where you do wonder. Obviously, it wasn’t enough time midseason to get things rolling, but like I said at the beginning, I still thought we had enough firepower. We had enough options to come out and win this series.”

Harris was one to say that the Sixers need to be more mentally tough in order to get the job done in the playoffs and he echoed that statement a bit when discussing the failures with the Heat.

“It’s easy to say ‘Hey get the group back together, get a training camp’ and all that stuff, but there are things that we obviously didn’t do to the best of our ability in this series and that’s why we lost,” he added. “Those things that we could have controlled of doing. I think that’s truly the disappointing factor. I could see if we came out and just gave it 100% effort or the greatest effort we could and just lost, but that wasn’t the case in this series.”

Either way, this will be another long summer for both Harris and the Sixers as they continue to chase down the championship they so desperately crave.
