Hutchinson running backs coach Greg Cross discussed what type of player Tennessee is getting with Evans.
“Tiyon is special,” Cross told Vols Wire. “If I had to describe the type of back he is, he is versatile and is able to make defenders miss and has power to lower his shoulder.”
Evans’ experience as a kick returner and his ability to showcase the use of his hands in Hutchinson’s spread passing game are areas Cross mentioned that Tennessee’s latest commit can put on display in Knoxville.
Evans totaled 538 rushing yards on 61 attempts and scored nine touchdowns in 12 contests during the 2019 season. The future Vol also recorded four receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown.
In the kick return game, Evans produced 608 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts. His longest kick return in 2019 went for 95 yards.
