Titans-Commanders spread shrinks ahead of Week 5 contest

The Titans remain favorites over the Commanders, but the spread has shrunk a bit.

The Tennessee Titans opened the week as road favorites over the Washington Commanders for their Week 5 matchup, and while that remains the case, the spread has shurnk.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Titans are now 1.5-point favorites after starting out the week as 2.5-point favorites. The over/under remains the same at 42.5.

So, why has the spread lessened?

Perhaps it has to do with the Titans being without two key starters on defense in safety Amani Hooker and outside linebacker Bud Dupree, along with the absence of rookie wideout Treylon Burks.

But if there’s any team that has proven it can overcome almost any injury, it’s the Titans, who fielded an NFL record 91 players (and are on pace to come close to that again in 2022) last season, mostly because of injuries.

Tennessee comes into this contest with a head of steam after having won both of their last two games following an 0-2 start. Meanwhile, the Commanders are struggling after having lost each of their last three contests.

Tennessee is 2-2 against the spread and has hit the the over in two of four games, while the Commanders are 1-3 against the spread but have also hit the over twice.

The Titans and Commanders will meet at FedEx Field on Sunday, with kickoff set for noon CDT.
