The Tennessee Titans made four expected cuts on Wednesday, releasing wide receiver Robert Woods, left tackle Taylor Lewan, kicker Randy Bullock, and linebacker Zach Cunningham.
The moves to cut Woods, Lewan, Bullock and Cunningham will save the team about $37.8 million in 2023 ($12 million for Woods, $14.8 million for Lewan, $2 million for Bullock, $8.9 million for Cunningham) and will put Tennessee under the salary cap.
According to Over the Cap, the Titans are now $12.4 million under the salary cap at this point in the offseason, which ranks 13th in the NFL. That’s a far cry for a Titans team that entered the day over the cap by nearly $23 million.
Of course, the team is likely to make more cuts in the near future, and then contract restructures and extensions will be on the table, also.
As far as more cuts are concerned, Lewan, Woods, Bullock and Cunningham were just four of many cut candidates we outlined in January.
If Tennessee were to cut the whole lot of those listed, including Ryan Tannehill, the team would have north of $40 million in cap space.
