Titans’ Trevor Siemian: 1st days of camp ‘like drinking through a fire hose’

Getting up to speed with the Titans’ offense on the fly has been a challenge for Trevor Siemian.

The Tennessee Titans signed quarterback Trevor Siemian on August 19 in order to add a veteran presence to the backup competition, and since then he’s been trying to get himself acclimated to the team’s offensive system.

And not only is Siemian trying to learn on the fly, he also has to perform while doing so in order to win the competition with fellow quarterback, Logan Woodside.

After practice on Sunday, the veteran signal-caller compared the situation to “drinking through a fire hose”.

“A week and a half ago I was throwing to my left guard from college in the park,” Siemian said, via Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.

Along with learning the playbook, Siemian is trying to get to know his teammates, who he complimented.

Head coach Mike Vrabel noted that Siemian is making progress from the team’s last practice at Nissan Stadium.

Based on what we’ve seen from Woodside thus far, the backup job is still completely up for grabs — and if you needed more evidence, Tennessee’s move to bring in Siemian and cut Cole McDonald is more than enough.

Siemian has a clear edge over Woodside based on experience, as Woodside has never taken a regular season snap and Siemian has 20-plus starts under his belt.

However, that won’t matter if Siemian has trouble getting up to speed quickly. In that regard, he’s at a disadvantage because Woodside is already familiar with Tennessee’s offense.
