Titans’ Trevis Gipson talks Week 4 sack, earning more snaps

On Wednesday, Titans OLB Trevis Gipson talked about his Week 4 sack and potentially playing more snaps moving forward.

Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Trevis Gipson hasn’t gotten many chances to play through four games, but that is expected to change.

After playing seven snaps in Week 1 before being inactive the next two games, Gipson was on the field for just three snaps in Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

But Gipson made the most of them by making an impact play with a strip sack of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow that led to turnover in the third quarter, effectively sealing the deal in Week 4.

On Monday, head coach Mike Vrabel said Gipson would see more snaps moving forward.

“He’ll play more,” Vrabel said of Gipson, per Jim Wyatt. “(He’s) learned the system, learned the calls and what we’re doing. So it was great to see him. He’d been working extremely hard and I know he wished that he was out there, but what he did was take advantage of the opportunity he got, and earned more opportunity.”

On Wednesday before practice, Gipson spoke about the play and the potential for increased opportunities.

“It felt pretty good,” Gipson said, per Wyatt. “I’ve been working hard, trying to get acclimated to the team, trying to show everybody what I could do off the field as far as weight room, workout, studying wise.

“But it felt good to be able to make that play, and show the team that I can help. It was encouraging, very encouraging. Because I want to prove them right and show that I can help the team. No matter (how many) snaps or opportunities I get, I am going to go out there and give it my all.”

Lest we forget, Gipson had a seven-sack season in 2021, which was also the last time he was in a system similar to Tennessee’s. If the Titans can get him going, they’ll add yet another talented edge rusher to an already impressive pass-rush.
