After a potential season-ending injury to running back Derrick Henry, the Tennessee Titans are reportedly set to take a look at one of the greatest running backs in NFL history.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Titans are set to work out running back Adrian Peterson. The 36-year-old back has yet to play a snap this season after spending the 2020 campaign with the Detroit Lions.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler confirmed Rapoport’s report and notes that Peterson has kept himself in great shape while away from the game.
Peterson, who needs just 450 more rushing yards to pass Barry Sanders for fourth on the all-time list, tallied 156 rushes for 604 yards (3.9 yards per carry), and seven touchdowns in 16 games (10 starts) for the Lions last year.
While it remains to be seen how much Peterson has left in the tank, he’s a solid runner in between the tackles and is used to carrying a heavy workload.
Peterson is the first back the Titans are confirmed to be taking a look at, but we expect many more names to be floated around in the days ahead.
