In what looked like a coordinated effort, Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan and linebacker Will Compton both took to Twitter on Thursday night to recruit free-agent pass-rusher, Jadeveon Clowney.
Their pitches came shortly after it was reported by ESPN’s Dianna Russini that Clowney could sign “very soon” and that the Titans and New Orleans Saints are “making strong pushes” for the former No. 1 overall pick.
She also added that both teams are using their players and coaches to try and convince him via phone calls and texts, but apparently social media was another avenue after Lewan and Compton fired off a pair of tweets to Clowney at roughly the same time.

Whatever the @Titans are offering @clownejd I will also throw in:
– For The Boys rope hat
– Bus invite
– Iced Almond Milk Latte (16 oz)
– Bottle of whiskey under $79— Will Compton (@_willcompton) September 4, 2020
I’m not sure how Clowney feels about it, but Compton’s package is pretty enticing as a cherry on top of a deal that will be worth millions of dollars.
Publicly recruiting Clowney isn’t something new for Titans players, as both Lewan and safety Kenny Vaccaro have done so before.
Cornerback Johnathan Joseph, who is a close friend and former teammate of Clowney’s, has also publicly stated that he has tried to steer the 27-year-old in the Titans’ direction.
Whether or not all of this effort pays off remains to be seen, but clearly Tennessee is doing whatever it can to bring Clowney to Nashville.
