Titans take QB Jake Fromm in second round of CBS mock draft

Tannehill has made it clear he wants to remain with the Titans, but the team has options if he doesn’t.

Signing quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a multi-year deal is probably at the top of the Tennessee Titans’ agenda as free agency looms near.

Tannehill recorded the best season of his career in 2019 after being named the starter in Week 7, and led the NFL in multiple categories, including passer rating (117.5).

He’s switched agents now, and will probably be more costly than he once was.

Between a loaded free agency and the wealth of talent at the position in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Titans could find a new quarterback of the future ahead of the next season.

CBS Sports’ R.J. White sees Tennessee taking Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm.

“Unless the Titans lock up Ryan Tannehill to a long-term deal, they should look to grab a QB prospect on Day 2 to develop into a potential starter,” he wrote. “The need will be there for a backup anyway with Marcus Mariota hitting free agency.”

Fromm has been largely average on his college career, despite a decent career stats sheet.

At Georgia, he threw for 8,244 yards, 78 touchdowns, 18 interceptions and had a 63.5 percent completion percentage in 42 career games.

It’s important to note how much he leaned on the rushing efforts of players like D’Andre Swift, though he could technically continue to do more of the same in Tennessee with star rusher Derrick Henry on the roster.
