Titans’ Stephen Gostkowski named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month

Perhaps no player in the NFL has seen a bigger turnaround in the first month of the season than Stephen Gostkowski.

Perhaps no player in the NFL has seen a bigger turnaround through the first month of the 2020 season than Tennessee Titans kicker, Stephen Gostkowski, who has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

In Week 1, Gostkowski missed his first three field goal attempts and an extra point in the game against the Denver Broncos, which led us to believe that Tennessee’s kicking woes from 2019 would continue.

However, Gostkowski went on to make his final try of the night, which was also the game-winner, and hasn’t missed any of the eight field goals he’s attempted since.

In Week 3, Gostkowski went 6-for-6, keeping the Titans in the game, but he also nailed the game-winner, leading to his being named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

In all, Gostkowski is 9-for-12 on the young season and has made a game-winning kick in each of the Titans’ three victories. His nine total makes are already more than Tennessee kickers had in all of 2019.

While things can certainly change, it’s safe to say the veteran kicker has at least instilled some confidence in Tennessee’s field goal unit again, something that didn’t exist at all last season.
