As was the case with us, the Tennessee Titans’ Week 7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers hasn’t done much to hurt the confidence USA TODAY’s Nate Davis has in them as a top team in the NFL.
In fact, in Davis’ latest power rankings following last week’s action, he has the Titans falling just one spot to No. 4. Here’s what he had to say about Tennessee:
4. Titans (3): The value of DE Jadeveon Clowney, who’s still sack-less, has rarely been reflected by stat sheet. But he’s never going to get $20 million per year without being a more productive pass rusher.
It’s hard to argue with that sentiment. While Clowney has done some of the little things to make an impact thus far, the bagel on the stat sheet in the sacks column is unacceptable for what the Titans are paying him.
The Titans need much more from Clowney and the rest of the pass-rush — and their defense overall — if they’re going to make a run this season.
Here’s a look at Davis’ full top 10:
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Baltimore Ravens
- Tennessee Titans
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Seattle Seahawks
- Green Bay Packers
- Arizona Cardinals
- New Orleans Saints
- Buffalo Bills
The Titans will look to rebound from their first loss of the 2020 campaign when they meet the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.
