Titans’ skill position trio ranked outside top 10 in NFL

This ranking of the Titans’ trio differs greatly from that of Nate Burleson’s.

The Tennessee Titans’ comeback from a dismal 2-4 start to the 2019 season can be attributed to several different factors, though a quarterback change is probably what comes to mind first.

When Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post released his rankings for the NFL’s most dynamic skill-position trios in 2019, the Titans triplets sat just outside the top 10.

The trio of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver A.J. Brown placed at No. 11 on the list.

That’s ahead of the Atlanta Falcons and behind the Carolina Panthers.

The uniquely bruising Henry (1,540 yards) won the rushing title, allowing Tannehill’s resurgence. Can either duplicate their 2019 success? Brown led all 1,000-yard receivers with a 20.2-yard average per catch as a rookie.

While Dunleavy gives the Titans triplets a solid ranking, it doesn’t come anywhere near the opinion of Nate Burleson, who believes the trio from Tennessee is the best in the business.

The Titans wasted little time this offseason signing Tannehill to a four-year extension worth $118 million, and placed a franchise tag on Henry to keep him on board for at least another season.

Tannehill is coming off a career year in which he led the NFL in yards per attempt (9.6), adjusted yards gained per pass attempt (10.2), yards per completion (13.6) and passer rating (117.5).

As Dunleavy noted, success from both Henry and Tannehill, along with Brown building off the momentum of an incredible rookie season, will have a lot of bearing on just how successful the Titans are this fall.
