With the Tennessee Titans possibly set to not have their starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, in Week 16 against the Houston Texans, the team is bringing in another signal-caller just in case.
According to his agent, Mike McCartney, the Titans signed quarterback Joshua Dobbs to their active roster off the Detroit Lions’ practice squad.
This would seem to reinforce the idea that there’s a good chance Tannehill doesn’t play against the Texans. On Tuesday, it was reported the veteran signal-caller was facing an “uphill battle” to play on Saturday.
Dobbs will serve as a backup to rookie quarterback Malik Willis, who is expected to get the start in place of Tannehill. The Titans also have Kevin Hogan on the practice squad.
A 2017 fourth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dobbs has appeared in just six games (zero starts) during his career. He’s completed 10-of-17 passes for 45 yards and one interception. Dobbs also offers some mobility.
