Titans sign LB Luke Gifford to practice squad

One day after his release, the Tennessee Titans have signed linebacker Luke Gifford back to their practice squad.

The Tennessee Titans brought their practice squad count up to 15 today when they signed linebacker Luke Gifford to the practice squad.

John Glennon of the Nashville Post was the first to report the transaction.

The signing comes just one day after the Titans released Gifford from the 53-man roster.

Gifford has five years of NFL experience under his belt, four with the Dallas Cowboys and one with the Titans. During that time he has recorded 46 tackles (29 solo) and one forced fumble.

Despite not being on the active roster, Gifford’s experience will help mentor younger players on both sides of the ball. He’s been around the league long enough to know how it works, and he can model what a defensive player will do during a game so that Will Levis can prepare.

Gifford also provides depth on the defensive side of the ball. The Titans can call him up as needed for additional support on game day.

With 15 players now on the practice squad, the Titans have two spots left with the exemption. They also still have room on the 53-man roster to sign active players if Ran Carthon sees fit.

The Titans travel to Illinois to face the Chicago Bears on Sunday in their 2024 season opener.
