Titans sign kicker Matthew Wright to practice squad

The Tennessee Titans signed veteran kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad prior to their Week 18 battle with the Houston Texans.

The Tennessee Titans made a small roster move prior to practice on Wednesday, signing kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad.

This is an interesting move, considering the Titans released Wright on Monday after signing him to the 53-man roster on Saturday. Wright replaced the injured Nick Folk on Sunday and connected on all three of his kicks.

Folk, who has missed the past two games with an abdominal injury, was not declared healthy by head coach Brian Callahan during his press availability on Wednesday. Callahan mentioned that Folk would be monitored throughout the week before a determination is made.

Wright is a veteran kicker who makes up for a lack of leg-strength with accuracy. He is the opposite of kicker Brayden Narveson, who was quietly waived last week after missing an attempt against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16.

No matter who is kicking for Tennessee this week, the Titans will close-out their 2024 season on Sunday against their division rivals the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
