Titans should target QB P.J. Walker after XFL suspends 2020 season

The Titans should target P.J. Walker in free agency.

The XFL is over — for now.

The league made it halfway through the first regular season since its relaunch before being shut down by a pandemic no one saw coming.

After speaking with multiple sources across the league, the general feeling is that the XFL will be back for more in 2021. Both players and coaches are confident about the league’s future “next year and years beyond.”

But one thing that’s important to note is that XFL players are free to sign with NFL teams now.

Hardly any player will be on the radar of NFL teams quite like Houston Roughnecks quarterback P.J. Walker.

The Tennessee Titans consistently find themselves in the market for a quarterback, and haven’t seen a satisfactory backup signal-caller aside from Ryan Tannehill last season.

They could fill that void with Walker.

Walker was considered by most to be the best quarterback and overall player in the league by a relatively large margin.

He earned high praise for his impressive arm strength, ability to extend plays to get his team out of unlikely situations, command of the offense and athleticism that made him a true threat.

Walker received a ringing endorsement from former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, who told his father Oliver, the XFL’s commissioner, he should add him to the league.

Over five games, Walker completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,338 yards, with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions to go with 99 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

The NFL is in the midst of an offseason where both the free agency and the draft are both stacked with talent, but practically any team would gain more stability on its quarterback depth chart with the addition of a do-it-all prospect like Walker.
